Q1 2025 Market Review
The first quarter of 2025 got off to a volatile start. Stocks in the US were down 4.72%, while international markets were up 6.2%. US Bonds returned 2.78% while bonds outside the US were slightly negative, down 0.17%. The difference in returns once again illustrates the importance of having a diversified portfolio.
The second quarter is off to an even more volatile start. The VIX index (a measure of volatility) peaked at 27.86 in Q1 and has since hit a high of 52.33. Again, a good reminder to set your asset allocation in line with your financial plans so you can navigate these periods of heightened market uncertainty.
