Q3 2016 MARKET REVIEW
Q3 2016 was a strong quarter for markets in general. U.S., international and emerging market stocks had positive returns. International and emerging markets were stronger than domestic markets, which has been a rarity recently as the domestic market has tended to be stronger the last several years. Bond markets generally had small gains and interest rates increased slightly.

Planning note: As mentioned above, the U.S. markets have provided stronger returns for several years and that has caused many people to reduce their international exposure. Though one quarter of strong international returns doesn’t mean those markets will continue to be stronger than domestic markets, it does illustrate the benefit of a globally diversified portfolio.
